HI to all members, my name is Steve Owens and I joined the club under the previous administration but am now only getting around to posting an intro.
I bought my (3rd) Beamish a while ago with the intention of doing a few easy trials.
I used one of the others in Twin Shock trials and preferred it to the Montesa, Ossa and Bultacos' that I had used before.
However, using a modern bike on practise ground made me realise that Perhaps it wasn't such a good idea with aging body and healing properties. The last trial I did was in 1993!
But I do love the look of the bikes, in particular the looks of my 1977 in Heron colours.
So, I road registered it with Lee's help and will use it to pop to the coast as I live 3 miles out of Worthing.
Unfortunately it has now lost it's spark and when I started to unravel the (very neatly taped) loom, I found all the joints were just twisted together.
I soldered the joints but still no spark, I have also changed the plug and cap. On checking the coil resistance I got zero readings so this may be the fault.
I am considering fitting a modern set-up but first would like to know what readings I should have at the 3 wires from the flywheel if anyone would be kind and or knowledgeable enough to let me know.
Best Wishes to all.
Steve Owens
